Mound Westonka White Hawks standout football player Mikey Oftedahl and Head Coach Nick David were recently selected to play and coach in the 2023 Minnesota High School All-Star Football Game, which will take place on Saturday, December 2nd at 1 p.m. at U.S. Bank Stadium.
Senior captain Mikey Oftedahl adds this great accomplishment to a long list of football accolades which includes him being a four-year starter, a 4-time letter winner, and a 2-time team captain for the White Hawks. Oftedahl was also selected as an All-District Selection following the 2021. 2022, and 2023 seasons. Additionally, Oftedahl was selected as the 2023 Skyway Bronze Subdistrict Offensive Lineman of the Year. Coach David stated, "Our ground game has been phenomenal the past few years, and Mikey played a pivotal role in us gaining nearly 2,000 rushing yards for three consecutive seasons."
"Mikey is one of those kinds of players who make us coaches look really smart. There is not a player in our football program who has dedicated himself more to both improving himself and the players around him these last four years," White Hawks head coach Nick David said about Oftedahl. "His work ethic and dedication are second to none, and we are truly going to miss his leadership both on and off the field moving into next season."
Oftedahl joins the list of 17 former Mound Westonka High School football players that were selected to play in the Minnesota High School All-Star Football Game: Bernard Linquist (guard, 1946), Ron Bates (back, 1952), Andy Jackson (center, 1954), Scott LaGault (guard, 1959), Tom Wiswell (defensive end, 1980), Marc Illies (defensive back, 1981), Tom Illies (defensive back, 1982), Christian Norton (defensive back, 1990), Nate Schermerhorn (defensive line, 2011), Bryan Tierney (defensive back, 2014), Isaiah Cherrier (defensive back, 2016), Evan Dahl (defensive back, 2017), Kris Kurtz (linebacker, 2018), Isaiah Dempsey (offensive line, 2019), Logan Leonard (defensive back, 2020), Tyler Von Bank (wide receiver, 2021), and Sam Dioszeghy (offensive line, 2022).

Along with Oftedahl, Head Football Coach Nick David was also selected to represent Mound Westonka High School as the Head Coach of the South Team in the upcoming 2023 Minnesota High School All-Star Football Game. Coach David is the first and only Mound Westonka Football Coach ever to be selected to coach in this game.
Coach David is one of three Minnesota High School All-Star Football Game Head Coaches who also participated in the game as a player. Coach David was a 2003 Minnesota High School All-Star Game Selection as an Offensive Lineman on the Outstate Team in a 34-13 victory over the Metro Team.

Coach David was selected as the Subdistrict Coach of the Year following the 2015, 2016, 2017, 2021, and 2022 seasons. Coach David was also honored with the 2022 Minnesota Football Coaches Association (MFCA) Don Swanson Award. According to the MFCA, "The Don Swanson Award represents exemplary service to the MFCA. It is presented annually to a member of our association who personifies what the late Don Swanson exemplified: unconditional service to and for football in Minnesota."
"Not only is it an honor to be selected as a head coach in this all-star football game, I am even more excited and honored for the opportunity to coach Mikey one more time," said Coach David.
