Westonka Advances 13 Track & Field Athletes to State Meet

Mound Westonka High School will advance 13 student-athletes to the 2024 state track and field meet in 10 events.

Mound Westonka High School will advance 13 student-athletes to the state track and field meet in 10 events. The White Hawks claimed five section championships at the Section 6AA Meet May 22 and 30 and set three section records in the boys 4x100, 4x200 and 400.

Field Events State Qualifiers:

  • John Seeman 151' (3rd place, hit the standard) Discus
  • Lexie Rehman 5'1" (2nd place) High Jump

Individual Running Events:

  • Avery Olson 12.66 (2nd place) 100-meter dash
  • Jack Markstrom 22.06 (1st place) 200-meter dash
  • Jack Markstrom 48.22 (1st place) 400-meter dash - section record, school record, stadium record
  • Brenden Sexton 40.32 (3rd place, hit the standard) 300-meter hurdles

Relays:

  • Avery Olson, Lexie Rehmman, Eva Castellon-Williams, Morgan Johnson (50.98) 4x100-meter relay (2nd place)
  • Henry Slater, JT Kimbrough, Owen McCue, Charlie Dick (43.17)  4x100-meter relay - section record, school record (1st place)
  • Henry Slater, Charlie Dick, Jack Markstrom, Brenden Sexton (1:28.77) 4x200-meter relay - school record, section record, stadium record (1st place)
  • Charlie Dick, Jack Hall, Brett Bartkowicz, Brenden Sexton (3:31.44) 4x400-meter relay (1st place)

“Not only were our kids outstanding on the track and in the field events, we had several coaches and officials comment on what great kids we have on our team,” wrote head coach Sara Schwartz in an email to families. “You all should be so proud of your kids - from 6th through 12th grade boys and girls, they were truly a fantastic group of kids to coach!”
