The Mound Westonka boys golf team had two meets last week. The first was Lord Nelson’s Classic at the Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan on May 7. The team had the chance to play against some of the best players in the state, with seven of the top 10 ranked teams competing. Maple Grove won the Classic, with Spring Lake Park taking second.

Sophomore Luke Sunnarborg started the round near the top of the leaderboard with four pars, but fell behind after that, finishing with an 84. Sophomore Wes Foley shot 43 on the front and back to total 86. Sophomore Dillon Peterson carded a 90, and freshman Hudson Pundsack finished at 96.

May 9 brought a conference meet at Oak Ridge Country Club. This was the first time any of the White Hawks had played the private course in Hopkins. The team enjoyed the plush fairways and was challenged by the elevated, fast greens and thick roughs. Sunnarborg carded three birdies en route to an 83, while Peterson finished at 87. Pundsack shot a 91, and senior Mikey Oftedal provided a 95 for the White Hawks.

Mound Westonka has three days of competition this week, starting with the Bash at B’s on the River on May 13. Next will be the Oakdale Invitational, a two-day tournament in Buffalo Lake.
