The Westonka Math League team took first place in both their division and section, qualifying for the state meet for the first time in school history. Westonka finished the regular season ranked in the top 10 teams in the state.

“The entire team has worked extremely hard since September,” said advisor Lisa Paul. “They have been a joy to work with through and through and are so deserving of making the state meet!”

Individuals finishing in the top 20 were: junior captain Rohan Nella, second place; eighth grader Zach Van Nelson, 4th place; junior Tor Erdahl, sixth place; ninth grader James Marth, seventh place; and junior Tanner Blume, eighth place. Nella had the most individual points ever scored in a season by an MWHS student.

The additional varsity scoring team members were: seniors Cormac Schafer, Anna Wood and captain Ingrid Wulf; junior Jagger Wittine; and ninth grader Henry Rugemer. Additionally, junior Luke Carlson, who is an alternate to our varsity team, scored his season high in meet #5.

The Minnesota State High School Mathematics League State Tournament will be held March 11.
