In their first one act play competition in over 20 years, the Mound Westonka varsity theatre students finished second for their production of “Kodachrome” by Adam Scymkowicz at the Section 2AA conference subsection on Jan. 27, earning the chance to advance to the next round. The students placed one point behind the perennial state festival participants from Minnetonka High School.

On Feb. 3, the ensemble will travel to Minnetonka High School to perform alongside five other schools who advanced from the subsection tournaments. One school from the section finals will advance to the state One Act Festival.

The play is set in a small town where the unofficial town photographer tells the stories of her neighbors’ lives, focusing on love, romance, nostalgia, the seasons of life and love, and how we learn to say goodbye. The section performances are open to the public and begin at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 3 with Mound Westonka performing at 3 p.m. Audience members should enter through door 3N and plan to arrive early since doors lock during all performances.
