Three Westonka Nordic skiers earned All-Conference Honorable Mention at the conference meet Jan. 26. Over 140 skiers represented 10 schools at Theodore Wirth Park in weather that was more March-like than January. For the second year in a row, junior Isaac Hays took home All-Conference Honorable Mention with a 10th-place finish in the pursuit. Senior Averie Zealley earned her third All-Conference Honorable Mention, finishing third in the relay with her partner, junior Stella Miner, who took the award home for the first time.

As a team, the White Hawks boys finished fifth, while the girls finished sixth. Hays led the boys in pursuit, which takes the combined times of each skier's classic and skate ski times, with a time of 26:39. Junior Miles Lund finished second (28:39), and junior Tor Erdahl third (30:52).

The girls team was led by senior Anna Wood in the pursuit, with a combined time of 36:17. Eighth grader Camryn Smith finished second on the White Hawks team (37:37), and sophomore Ava Daum was third (38:37).

Junior Luke Carlson and senior August Schaefer came in fifth in the boys relay with a combined time of 16:10, while Miner and Zealley earned All-Conference Honorable Mention with a combined time of 19:04.

Other times for the White Hawks girls included eighth graders Elise Hays (39:49) and Stella Johnson (40:50), senior Ingrid Wulf (43:08), seventh-grade skier Eva Savstrom (43:56) and sophomore Sophia Kravchenko (46:11); and the boys, sophomore Leif Hagen (31:27), senior Clark Hanson (33:58), ninth grader Sawyer Bruch (33:59), junior Ted Ownes (34:45) and ninth grader Henry Ruegemer (37:09).

Overall it was a successful meet for the White Hawks. Next up is the section meet - assuming there is enough snow!
