The White Hawks volleyball program celebrated the end of the 2023 season at the annual banquet Nov. 19. In addition to celebrating the seniors, awards for academics, All-Conference, MVP, most improved and the White Hawk Award were given.

Most notably, the White Hawks varsity team earned Academic Gold. Gold status is reserved for teams whose GPA averages 3.75 or higher with 10 players in grades 10-12. The White Hawks averaged 3.88 (with two seniors with a 3.7 or higher!) and were one of only 30 teams in the state to receive gold status. Additionally, senior Annika Weir received the Academic All-State Award for her GPA of 3.985.

Sophomore Meaghan Kreiser received All-Conference for the White Hawks. Kreiser had 43 aces and served at 92% while getting 234 kills with a .326 hitting percentage. Kreiser had strong defensive statistics with 106 digs, 35 blocks and a 1.64 serve receive rating.

Junior Mia Weaver received All-Conference Honorable Mention for her contributions, including 55 aces and serving at 91%. Weaver had 248 kills and a .225 hitting percentage. Weaver had 277 digs and 34 blocks with a 1.99 serve receive rating.

Senior Kendal Richie exceeded 1,000 career digs to be the first defensive player to meet the 1,000 milestone.

Three awards are given on each team which are voted on by the players. The White Hawk Award (for being a good teammate and always raising the team up), most improved player, and most valuable player.

The White Hawks varsity had a very successful season, finishing with a 22-6 record - the best since 2012. The team made it to the semifinals in playoffs, which is no small feat when four of the top 10 teams in the state are in your section! They won the Bloomington Jefferson Tournament, which is made up of 16 teams, most of which are AAAA schools. The White Hawks took a set from two of the top teams in the state and won against some key rivals. It will definitely be a season to remember.

Thank you to the seniors - your contributions to the White Hawks volleyball program will be remembered!
