Mound Westonka/Holy Family (MWHF) girls swim and dive team hosted Blake in their final home meet of the season on Oct. 25. It was one for the record books thanks to MWHF sophomore diver Erika Johnson whose seven-dive set earned 232.50 dive points and her name on the school record board.

MWHF coach Ben Hanson’s relay lineups came out on top in all three events. Senior captain Catherine Dueck, junior captain Annemarie Johnson, junior Camille Ness and junior captain Onna Sullivan won the 200-yard medley relay (1:54.02) with ninth grader Jaylan Juras, sophomore Amelia Olson, senior captain Abigail Ries and sophomore Izzy Starr finishing third. Ness, junior Grace Warden, Juras and Sullivan won the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:44.62), with ninth grader Laney Hendrickson, junior Peyton Schmidt, Starr and Ries finishing second. Hendrickson, Warden, A. Johnson and Dueck won the 400-yard freestyle relay with ninth grader Chella Patterson, ninth grader Charlotte Lake, sophomore Amelia Olson and sophomore Kayla Quandt finishing fourth.

A. Johnson and Dueck both had perfect evenings, earning the top spot in each of their individual events in addition to the relays. A. Johnson won the 200-yard individual medley (2:22.66) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:14.35). Dueck finished first in the 50-yard freestyle (25.24) and the 100-yard freestyle (54.46). Hendrickson and Lake finished third and fourth, respectively, in the 20-yard individual medley, with Olson finishing second and Ries fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke. Ness finished the 50-yard freestyle in third place, with Schmidt in sixth and Juras and Sullivan finished the 100 Yard Freestyle 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Ness, Quandt and Hendrickson finished the 100-yard butterfly second, fifth and sixth, respectively. Lake finished the 500-yard freestyle in third place ahead of teammates Warden in fourth and Starr in fifth.  In the 100 Yard Backstroke, Sullivan, Juras and Patterson finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively.

It was a MWHF sweep in the diving event with ninth grader Jillian Schmitz and junior Callie Brown finishing second and third behind E. Johnson.

The 2023 dual meets have come to a close for MWHF as they turn their focus to the Nov. 10-12 Section 3A meet hosted by Willmar.
