The White Hawks started the week heading to Zimmerman for a rainy game. The weather wasn’t pretty, but the game play was.

Scoring started off quickly with a pass from Leif Hagen to Brett Bartkowicz three minutes into the game. After a nice defensive stop by keeper DJ Zattler, the White Hawks kept up the pressure, with Sam Holmberg threading a nice assist up to Ted Owens for another goal 15 minutes into the first half. A quick counter forced another strong save by Zattler off a free kick, and the half ended with the visitors up 2-0.

The White Hawks got off quick in the second half, with Sam Holmberg dribbling in and shooting a nice goal from just outside the box to put the White Hawks up 3-0 only 30 seconds into the second half. Jack Moch got in on the action off an assist from Hagen at 30-minute mark, and then Holmberg slotted a pass through to Bartkowicz a minute later to make the score 5-0. Lots of White Hawks got some playing time that evening, though the home team squeezed in a goal from distance with four minutes remaining. Final score 5-1.

The White Hawks returned home on Thursday, playing No. 7-ranked Southwest Christian. The game stayed close throughout the first half, with both sides getting chances but neither able to capitalize. The Stars snuck a shot in with four minutes left in the first half, putting the home team down 0-1 heading into the half. The Stars kept up the pressure, scoring 3 more times in the second half, putting the game away. The White Hawks had their chances, but couldn’t convert. Final score 0-4.

The team got in another game in summer like weather on Oct. 2, playing a home game against Wright County Conference foe Watertown-Mayer. The White Hawks started strong, with Bartkowicz getting fouled in the box at the 34-minute mark in the first half. He took the PK, but it went off the crossbar, deflected back into play. The home team got the rebound but an offsides call negated a great attempt at goal. The White Hawks got on the board at 24 minutes left in the first half, when Holmberg dribbled up and passed through to Bartkowicz, who put it in for the score. Holmberg attempted a shot from the left side of the pitch, but it went high. The half ended with the White Hawks up 1-0.

There were plenty of chances to score in the second half, with several through balls that almost converted. Gavin Kevitt put a shot off the left upright, as did Hagen. The defense held stout, and Zattler held on for a shutout. Final score 1-0 for the White Hawks.
