White Hawks Volleyball Off to a Strong Start

White Hawks volleyball finished the first week of play on Aug. 30 at Providence Academy with a straight set win.

White Hawks volleyball finished the first week of play on Aug. 30 at Providence Academy with a straight set win. The Hawks beat the Lions 25-15, 25-13, and 25-22. 

Three White Hawks served at 100%: junior Mia Weaver, and sophomores Meaghan Kreiser and Bridget Budzius. Senior captain Kendal Richie led the defense with a 2.0 serve receive rating. Sophomore Ashtyn Cupp led the team with assists at 27, allowing Weaver, Kreiser and Budzius 24 kills.

The White Hawks also enjoyed a straight set win at home on Monday night against Big Lake, winning 25-14, 25-11, and 28-26. Serving was led by senior captain Annika Weir, who achieved a 100% service rating. Budzius had a strong service run in the second set, serving 11 in a row. Richie again led defense with a 1.95 serve receive rating. The offense was led by Weaver, who had 11 kills. Junior Taryn Peglow is sighted for her strong offensive play from the middle position. 

The White Hawks took third place out of 12 teams at their opening tournament in Howard Lake on Aug. 25, making their record 5-1 for the opening week of the season. The next home game is Tuesday, Sept. 5.
