The 2023 Westonka boys lacrosse team claimed the Wright County Conference Championship after a  12-7 win against Holy Family on May 30. They finished the regular season with a 11-4 record overall, with losses to highly talented teams and remained undefeated in their conference. Their final game was a 5-18 loss to a Top 5-ranked Chanhassen. The final game included an exciting goal netted by senior goalie Scott Greendshields and was a great way to cap off an awesome career.

The White Hawks had a lot to celebrate at this year’s banquet. Notable accomplishments include: avenging last season’s overtime loss to Delano that led to a second-place finish in the conference; having seven double digit goal scorers this season; junior Max Anderson surpassing 100 total points for first time in program history; a record breaking number of ground balls; and continuing the team’s academic success in the classroom with several players nominated for state academic recognition.

Four players earned All-Conference honors, including Max Anderson, Jack Peterson, goalie Scott Greenshields and midfielder Issac Paul. A number of other players earned All-Conference Honorable Mention. Other notable awards presented were: Offensive MVP - Max Anderson, Defensive MVP - Dominic Zattler, Most Improved player - Drake Whitmore, Varsity Unsung Hero - Brandon Knock and White Hawk Senior Spirit Award - Mason Evenson.

Coach Derek Michalski summarized the season by saying, “This team was able to hang a banner and leave their mark on MWHS as a team they could all be proud of ... as Wright County Conference Champions!”

The White Hawks will be led by 14 seniors next year as they begin their fourth season with a goal to continue to build on the program’s success.
