Girls Track and Field Wins WCC East; Boys Finish Third in WCC East

The White Hawks girls track and field team won the WCC East Conference Meet on May 16

The White Hawks girls track and field team won the WCC East Conference Meet on May 16. The girls had a great day and pulled ahead of a strong Jordan team in the last two events to win the meet.

Winning their events and earning All-Conference honors for the girls were Lexie Rehman who was a double winner in the high jump and long jump. Rehman also set a school record in the long jump with a jump of 17’2”.  The 4x200 team of Reese Kasper, Alicia Hatlestad, Avery Olson and Micah Boyce won the race and the 4x400 team of Kasper, Abby Hollenstein, Audrey Kirscht and Ali Butler were also champions.  

Other sprinters placing in the top in their events include Avery Olson and Sami Christensen who placed 2nd and 3rd in the 100 meter dash. Boyce, Eva Maria Castellon Williams and Hatlestad who finished 2nd, 3rd and 5th in the 200 meter dash. Kasper, Hollenstein and Butler who earned 2nd. 4th and 6th in the 400 meter dash.  The 4x100 team of Christensen, Boyce, Hatlestad and Olson was second in their race.

The distance group had a great day with Kirscht in the 800 with a 3rd place finish. Anna Regenold was 4th in the 1600 and 6th in the 3200. Laura Sunnarborg was 3rd in the 3200 and Sophia Engesser was 5th in the 3200. The 4x800 team of Sunnarborg, Kirscht, Stella Miner and Bette Mae Grogan finished in 3rd.

Hurdlers Morgan Johnson and Natalie Miner were 3rd and 6th in the 300 hurdles. Thrower DJ Christensen had a great day and was 2nd in the shot put and 5th in the discus, with teammate Grace Schrempp right behind in 6th place.  Kasper was 4th in the long jump and Christensen was 4th in the triple jump.

On the boys side Payton Kasper was a triple winner, winning the pole vault, 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles. Kasper was 2nd in the long jump to help the White Hawks finish in 3rd place in the meet.  Jack Markstrom won the 400 meter dash. Theo Boe, J. Markstrom, L. Markstrom and Brenden Sexton won the 4x400 relay to earn All Conference.

The 4x200 relay team of J. Markstrom, Luke Markstrom, Owen McCue and Brett Bartkowicz finished in 2nd place. McCue was 4th in the 100. L. Markstrom and Boe were 3rd and 4th in the 400 meter dash. Logan Kevitt finished in 4th in the 1600 and Isaac Hays was 6th in the 3200.  Sexton was 2nd in the 300 meter hurdles. 

The 4x800 team of Mason Lilledahl, Gavin Kevitt, Isaac Hays and Gavin Thelen finished in 4th. The 4x100 team of Jack Danielson, Henry Slater, Jacob Orenge and Jacob Hansberger was 5th.

Sam Dioszeghy was 2nd in the shot put and 4th in the discus. John Seeman was 5th in the discus. Boe finished in 4th in the high jump and Jack Hall was 5th in the triple jump.

On Saturday May 20 the girls team competed in the True Team State Meet and finished in 10th place.  The 4x200 team of Micah Boyce, Alicia Hatlestad, Avery Olson and Reese Kasper won their event with their fastest time of the season (1:47.54).  Other athletes placing in the top 8 were Sami Christensen (4th in long jump, 4th in triple jump, 7th in the 200), Reese Kasper (6th in the 400), Audrey Kirscht (8th in the 800), DJ Christensen (7th in the shot put).

The 4x100 team of Christensen, Hatlestad, Boyce and Olson was 6th. The 4x400 team of Kasper, Abby Hollenstein, Ali Butler and Kirscht was 4th.
