Westonka Boys Golfers Earn All-Conference Honors

Mound Westonka had another gorgeous week for golf, playing their final conference match on May 15, and a two-day invitational on May 17-18.

Delano hosted the six-team conference meet at Pioneer Creek on May 15. Senior Matthew Uhas shot a 75, earning 8th place for the day, and all-conference for the season.  Senior Tyler Albert shot an 81, highlighted by an eagle on the par four 16th hole. Honorable mention all-conference was awarded to senior Mac Harmer who also shot an 81, and freshman Luke Sunnarborg who finished at 85. The White Hawks ended up in fourth place for the season, behind first place Holy Family.

The Charger Invitational was held at Oakdale Golf Club in Buffalo Lake, May 17-18. The White Hawks had a slow start, finishing day one in eighth out of fourteen teams. Uhas shot a 76, with Sunnarborg at 80 and Harmer at 83. Seniors Graham Taets and Tyler Albert each shot 90, along with freshman Dillon Peterson.

The boys came back much stronger on day two, winning the meet for the day with a 299, and propelling them to third place for the tournament. Uhas started the day on fire, shooting a 33 on the front nine. He finished one under par for the round with a 71, thanks to six birdies. Harmer also had his best day of the season, shooting a 73 with three birdies. The rest of the team contributed season bests as well, with Albert shooting a 77 and Sunnarborg right behind at 78. Senior Daniel Kaczanowski contributed an 82, and Peterson finished with 85. 

Next up for the White Hawks is the Bash at B’s on the River on May 23 and the Pioneer Cup at Pioneer Creek Golf Course on May 24.
