After only one outdoor practice, the Mound Westonka White Hawks golfed their first meet on Tuesday, April 18. The weather this spring has resulted in a couple meets being canceled due to cold, rain, and even snow, along with some golf courses not being open yet.

The White Hawks traveled to Jordan with temperatures in the 40s falling to the 30s by the end of the round. The Ridges at Sand Creek is a challenging course, especially this early in the season, but Mound Westonka played it well.  Senior Matthew Uhas led the team with a 40, earning a tie for 6th place. Senior Mac Harmer and freshman Luke Sunnarborg both shot 42, tying them for 13th. Freshman Dillon Peterson followed them with a 46, and seniors Graham Taets and Daniel Kaczanowski finished in 47 and 56, respectively.

Holy Family easily won the conference meet, with three of their golfers taking the top three spots. Southwest Christian earned second, with Mound Westonka tying Delano for third in the six team meet. The White Hawks hope for some better weather for their next meet at Crow River Country Club in Hutchinson on May 1.

The White Hawks golf team has started the season in the nets at the Westonka Activities Center.
