The Mound Westonka Nordic ski team endured bitter cold and extreme wind at the Elm Creek Time Trials November 30. Both the boys and girls teams skied the frigid 4k course on skate skis.

The White Hawks boys team was led by 10th graders Miles Lund, with a finishing time of 13:51, and Isaac Hays, who came in at 13:57. Ninth grade, first-year skier Liam Zeally led the JV boys with a time of 15:58.

The White Hawks girls were led by 11th grade co-captains Averie Zeally, with a 15:00 finishing time, and Anna Wood, who finished with a time of 17:22. Tenth grader Stella Miner and 11th grade co-captain Ingrid Wulf finished with times of 19:10 and 20:12, respectively.

The coaches were pleased with the young and enthusiastic team's performance at this early event. They are looking forward to competing this season. "We are thrilled with the early snow," said coach Sue Harrison. "This was the first time in over a decade that the weather has allowed us to have an event in November. What a great start!"
