White Hawks Girls Lacrosse Adds Another Shutout to the Tally

It was a busy week for the White Hawks girls lacrosse team, competing in three games and bringing their record to 5-2.

It was a busy week for the White Hawks girls lacrosse team, competing in three games and bringing their record to 5-2.

The varsity girls hosted the Waconia Wildcats April 29 at Haddorff Stadium and achieved their second shutout of the season with a final score of 20-0. Fourteen members of the team scored for the White Hawks, including senior captain Grace Peterson with four goals and seven assists, senior Avery Robbins with three goals and sophomore Nora Sipprell with two goals. Scoring one goal each were seniors Grace Carlson, Mandy Peterson and Lily Sipprell; juniors Annabelle Hommer, Liz Trubeck and Eleanor Young; sophomore Jordyn LaRue; freshman Sage Finck; eighth-grader Taryn Peglow; and seventh-graders Grace and Maddie McCutCheon. Sophomore goalie Kate Velander saved two shots on goal for the shutout.

On Saturday, May 1, both JV and varsity hosted Apple Valley Eastview on their home field in the 80-degree heat and sunshine and came up short 11-23. It was a challenging defensive game for the White Hawks. Peterson made eight goals, sophomore Alicia Hatlestad scored two goals and Nora Sipprell scored one goal. Young offered the only assist for the game. Velander saved 17 shots on goal, but it was not enough for the win. The JV team lost their game 2-9.

The White Hawks traveled to Delano to defeat the Tigers on Monday, May 3, with a close 16-15 final score. The game was an extremely competitive matchup, with the White Hawks walking off the field with the win. Lead scorer for Westonka was Peterson with 10 goals and one assist. Juniors Lauren Hildahl, Hommer and Young and sophomores Audrey Courtney Bernal, Alicia Hatlestad and Nora Sipprell each scored a goal. Robbins and Nora Sipprell each had an assist. Velander saved eight goals the first half of the game. Senior captain Frankie Walker played goalie the second half of the game and had seven saves. The JV team tied their game 9-9.

The team is looking forward to Senior Night on Thursday, May 6 at 6:30 p.m. when they take on Holy Family at home. Go White Hawks!
