Shutout Brings White Hawks Girls Lacrosse Record to 3-1

The Westonka girls lacrosse team traveled to Southwest Christian on April 22 for a varsity and JV matchup, with both teams walking off the field with wins.

The Westonka girls lacrosse team traveled to Southwest Christian on April 22 for a varsity and JV matchup, with both teams walking off the field with wins.

The White Hawks varsity won their game 19-5. Senior captain Grace Peterson was the lead scorer with eight goals and two assists. Sophomore Nora Sipprell scored three goals, and senior Lily Sipprell had two. Senior Avery Robbins, junior captains Lauren Hildal and Eleanor Young, junior Liz Trubeck, sophomore Alicia Hatlestad and freshman Sage Finck each added one tally to the score.

Trubeck and sophomore Jordyn LaRue each supported with additional assists. Sophomore goalie Kate Velander saved fifteen shots on goal for a 0.750 save percentage.

The JV team won their game 13-6.

Varsity played again on April 24 at Haddorff Field and shut out St. Paul by a score of 19-0. Scoring for Westonka included Peterson with nine goals, Nora Sipprell with five goals, and one each for Young, Trubeck, junior Annabelle Hommer, sophomore Hailey Salwei and Finck.

Peterson assisted with three goals and seventh-grader Grace McCutcheon added one assist. Velander saved three shots on goal for the shutout.

At the time of publication, Peterson is No. 2 on the Minnesota Lacrosse Hub goals leaderboard with 31 total so far this season.

Come out and cheer on your White Hawks at the next two home games on Haddorff Field. Varsity plays Thursday, April 29, against Waconia at 4 p.m. JV and Varsity both play Eastview on Saturday, May 1, at 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., respectively.
