The Westonka boys swim and dive team put forward a determined effort in their conference meet versus Hutchinson, competing with heart and consistency throughout the lineup despite coming up short in the overall team score. With a smaller roster than their opponent, Westonka faced an added challenge, and Hutchinson swam exhibition in the second half of the meet to keep the competition balanced.

Strong Relay and Individual Contributions

Westonka opened the meet with a solid performance in the 200 IM relay, where Sean Dolder, Brody Helms, Niles Senn, and Ben Zook worked together to secure a third-place finish. The team continued to rely on relay chemistry throughout the night, highlighted by
competitive swims in both the 200 Free Relay and the 400 Free Relay, where Westonka delivered well-executed races and showed strong coordination across all legs.

Individual Highlights Across the Lineup

Senior captain Sean Dolder had a consistent evening, placing third in the 200 IM and delivering a strong second-place finish in the 500 Free, one of the most demanding events of the meet. He also contributed on relays, including Westonka’s competitive 400 free relay effort.

Tyler Finley led Westonka on the boards in diving, earning first in the event, and later added valuable points in the 500 Free with a fifth-place finish, along with relay contributions in both freestyle events.

Brody Helms continued his reliable season, placing fourth in the 200 IM and putting together a strong swim in the 100m breaststroke, while also helping Westonka’s relays remain competitive.

Senior captain Wyatt Helms turned in two strong individual races of his own, placing second in both the 200 and 100 freestyle, and added depth to the relay squads.

Niles Senn had a productive night as well, placing fourth in the 50 Free and having a solid race in the 100 backstroke, along with taking part in Westonka’s solid 400 Free Relay performance.

Ben Zook rounded out Westonka’s individual efforts with a sixth place finish in the 500 Free, having also contributed to the 200 IM relay earlier in the meet.

Even with a smaller roster and the challenges that come with it, the Westonka boys swim and dive team showed resilience and steady progress across events. The athletes continued to build on their technique, race strategy, and relay chemistry, standing out for
their effort and sportsmanship in a tough conference matchup.

Next up for the White Hawks is Senior Night on February 3 at Orono, where the team will recognize and celebrate its three seniors for their leadership and dedication. It will be a special evening for the athletes, families, and fans as Westonka honors the swimmers who have helped shape the program and set the tone for the younger team members.
