Westonka Boys Open Home Season with Strong Performances Against Dassel-Cokato/Litchfield

The Westonka Boys Swim and Dive team delivered an exciting night of competition in their first home meet of the season.

The Westonka boys swim and dive team delivered an exciting night of competition in their first home meet of the season as they hosted Dassel-Cokato/Litchfield (DCL) on Jan. 22. Although DCL captured the team win, the White Hawks packed the evening with standout swims, personal-best performances, and top-three finishes across the lineup.

The meet opened with a powerful showing in the 200 Medley Relay, where the team of Sean Dolder (backstroke), Brody Helms (breaststroke), Eren Alemdar (butterfly), and Wyatt Helms (freestyle) raced to a second-place finish, setting the tone for the evening.

In the 200 Freestyle, Westonka earned two strong placements, with Eren Alemdar taking second and Ben Zook finishing fifth, both turning in determined swims for early points. The 200 Individual Medley saw Sean Dolder continue his strong start, securing second place with a composed, well-paced race.

Sprinters took center stage in the 50 Freestyle, where Brody Helms and Niles Senn touched in nearly back-to-back for third and fourth place, respectively, adding to Westonka’s momentum.

One of the biggest highlights of the night came on the diving boards. Tyler Finley soared to a first-place finish, earning a personal-best score of 114.25, electrifying the home crowd and giving Westonka a major boost heading into the second half of the meet.

In the 100 Butterfly, Wyatt Helms powered to a second-place finish, showcasing strong technique and stamina.

The 100 Freestyle brought more consistency, with Niles Senn and Ben Zook racing to third and fourth place, respectively.

The distance event of the evening, the 500 Freestyle, was a standout for the White Hawks. Eren Alemdar dominated the race to earn first place, while Brody Helms pushed through a strong second half to secure third place.

Westonka kept the energy high in the relays. The 200 Freestyle Relay team of Sean Dolder, Niles Senn, Tyler Finley, and Wyatt Helms grabbed second place with clean exchanges and a well-executed finish.

The team shined again in the 100 Backstroke, where Sean Dolder raced to first place, followed closely by Tyler Finley in second, giving Westonka a strong one-two punch.

In the 100 Breaststroke, Wyatt Helms capped off his solid night by taking first place, delivering one of Westonka’s strongest individual wins of the evening.

The meet concluded with a thrilling victory in the 400 Freestyle Relay, as Eren Alemdar, Brody Helms, Niles Senn, and Tyler Finley powered to first place, igniting cheers from the home crowd and ending the meet on a high note for the White Hawks.

Despite the final team score favoring DCL, Westonka demonstrated depth, growth, and resilience across all events. The mix of top finishes, personal-best efforts, and spirited competition set a confident tone for the season ahead.
