The White Hawks boys and girls high school hockey teams held their annual “Hockey Against Hunger” event on Dec. 13 and Dec. 20. This charitable event supports the Westonka Community Food Shelf by collecting food and monetary donations.

This year marks the 23rd year of partnership between the teams and Westonka Community Food Shelf, keeping the tradition of community service and teamwork going strong.

The “Hockey Against Hunger” event was held during the JV and varsity home games and in only a few short hours, the teams collected 459 food items and $286 in monetary donations. Every dollar donated goes directly towards purchasing food. Thanks to Westonka Community Food Shelf’s ability to purchase $9 worth of groceries for every dollar donated, that $286 turns into $2,574 worth of groceries for our local families and individuals facing hunger.
