The Westonka White Hawks girls basketball team traveled to Zimmerman December 2 and once again showed their trademark grit. For the second straight game, the White Hawks refused to let an early gap clip their wings and instead came storming back from a double-digit deficit to tie the game late in the second half. But despite a furious rally that had the Thunder rumbling, Zimmerman ultimately held on, handing the Hawks a hard-fought 57–62 loss.

Offensively, the Hawks were led by Eve Schupp, who delivered a lightning-strike performance with 23 points, 4 assists, and 11 rebounds. Her steady shooting and aggressive drives kept Westonka within striking distance all night. Keeley Zachow also poured in 16 points while crashing the boards for 11 rebounds, powering her way to a double-double. Close behind was Valerie Mobagi, who contributed 6 points and matched the team-high with 11 rebounds, along with Lizzy Nash, who added another 6 points.

Also making noise against the Thunder was Charlotte Huls, who tallied an impressive 7 assists, 5 points, and 2 steals, setting the pace and the tone for the offense. Defensively, Grace Schrempp was everywhere, “stealing the Thunder” three times and providing a spark when the Hawks needed it most.

Coming off a gritty comeback effort against Zimmerman, the young Westonka White Hawks once again showed their resilience—this time against the Huskies on Thursday, December 4th at home. Though the final score didn’t fall in Westonka’s favor, the Hawks continued to prove that despite their youth and a challenging stretch of games, they are a team that grinds, grows, and refuses to back down.

Leading the charge once again was Eve Schupp, who turned in a strong performance with 19 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals—another all-around night that kept the White Hawks in striking distance.

Charlotte Huls also delivered a standout offensive showing with 15 points while dishing out 7 assists and grabbing 4 rebounds, orchestrating the Hawks’ attack with confidence and composure.

Rebounding continued to be a major strength for Westonka with Keeley Zachow battling her way to 14 rebounds, doing the dirty work in the paint and giving the Hawks second-chance opportunities. Schupp added 13 boards, further showing her dominance as a two-way force. Valerie Mobagi was strong on the glass as well with 7 rebounds, complemented by boards from Lizzy Nash, Huls, Jamison Reinke, Grace Schrempp, and Mariah Heitz.

This scrappy team also had 7 steals with  Valerie Mobagi stealing 4 and Grace Schrempp picking up 3 steals, creating disruption and momentum shifts in favor of the White Hawks.

This game—like the one against Zimmerman—showed that the White Hawks may be young, but they are relentless. They continue to stack hard-fought minutes, learn from every possession, and chip away at the small details that will soon turn close battles into wins. The scoreboard doesn’t always tell the whole story with this group. Their hustle, their defense and their willingness to keep pushing, learning, and battling is the real story. The future looks bright for the White Hawks.
