The Westonka–Holy Family (WHF) Girls Swim & Dive Team concluded a remarkable 2025 season with a fourth-place finish at the MSHSL Class A State Championship, marking the second-highest placement in program history. This top-four performance capped a season defined by depth, consistency, and excellence across dual meets, invitationals, championship competitions, diving, and academics. The team opened the year with a strong 6–2 dual meet record, earning victories over Dassel-Cokato, Watertown-Mayer, Litchfield, Hutchinson, Delano, and Blake, and delivered a first-place finish at the Tim Daly Memorial Invitational. Their postseason was equally impressive, earning second place at True Team Sections, second place at MSHSL True Team State, and second place at the Section 3A Championship before securing their outstanding result at the State Meet.

At the MSHSL Class A State Championship, WHF showcased exceptional performances in both swimming and diving. The 200 Medley Relay team of Mia Dongoske, Rachel Betts, Jaylen Juras, and Laney Hendrickson opened the meet with a fourth-place finish. Hendrickson added two podium finishes, placing fourth in the 200 Freestyle and third in the 500 Freestyle. Dongoske placed 15th in the 200 Individual Medley and earned a podium finish of eighth in the 100 Breaststroke, while Betts earned 11th in the 100 Breaststroke. Juras finished 10th in the 100 Butterfly, and Charlotte Lake placed 11th in the 500 Freestyle. The 400 Freestyle Relay of Hendrickson, Bridget Treacy, Carina Gadtke, and Betts closed out the meet with another fourth-place finish which also broke the school record!

Diving was another major highlight, as Bailey Monette earned State Runner-Up honors with a second-place finish and Erica Johnson finished fourth. Together, they delivered one of the strongest combined diving performances in program history. Both divers also broke significant varsity and pool records during the season.

The team also qualified one of the largest state delegations WHF has ever sent. State participants included Hendrickson, Gadtke, Johnson, Monette, Juras, Treacy, Betts, Dongoske, Izzy Starr, Alina Navidad, and Lake, with Chella Patterson, Ava Dominguez, and Kayla Quandt serving as alternates. The team’s dedication extended well beyond athletics, earning Academic Gold Standard honors with a team GPA of 3.76.

The 2025 season was defined by record-breaking performances. New Westonka varsity records were set by Dongoske in the 200 Individual Medley (2:13.97) and Johnson in the six-dive (251.10) and eleven-dive (400.45) formats. Holy Family varsity records were set by Hendrickson in the 200 Freestyle (1:53.59) and by Monette in both six dives (269.30) and eleven dives (477.70). The 400 Freestyle Relay of Hendrickson, Treacy, Gadtke, and Betts also established a new Holy Family relay record at 3:36.41. Additionally, Monette set a new Westonka pool record in the six-dive event with a score of 260.75.

The program’s rise is further reflected in its historical performance. Under Head Coach Ben Hanson, WHF has steadily advanced at the State Meet, finishing sixth in 2021, third in 2022, sixth in 2023, fifth in 2024, and fourth this season alongside a program-best runner-up finish at True Team State.

Reflecting on the season, Head Coach Ben Hanson shared, “The swim season is extremely long and the girls on the state team persevered all the way to the end. I am extremely proud of them all. Fourth place is an incredible accomplishment. Their last race of the season was the 400 free relay in which they broke the school record. Amazing!”

From dominant dual meets to postseason excellence, school and pool records, academic achievement, and one of the most successful State performances in program history, the 2025 Westonka–Holy Family Girls Swim & Dive Team delivered an unforgettable season. Their dedication, depth, and competitive spirit have secured this year as one of the most accomplished in program history and a powerful foundation for the future.
