The Westonka White Hawks put up a determined fight but ultimately fell in straight sets to the Jordan Jaguars in a conference matchup Thursday night. Despite the 0-3 loss, the White Hawks showcased strong individual performances across the board, with standout efforts at the service line, net, and in the back row.

Westonka came out aggressive in the opening set, but the Jaguars’ consistent pressure and court coverage made it difficult for the White Hawks to find offensive rhythm. Jordan took all three sets with a blend of sharp hitting and strategic defense, denying Westonka a chance to gain momentum.

On the service line, the White Hawks were nearly flawless. Ashtyn Cupp led the team with three aces and a perfect 100% service rating, a standard matched by Lexie Rehman (two aces) and Bridget Budzius (one ace), who also both served at 100%. Their consistency kept Westonka in striking distance throughout the match.

Offensively, Rehman was a force at the net, tallying seven kills and posting an impressive .375 hitting percentage. Budzius also notched seven kills, while Meaghan Kreiser added five. Maria Neumann contributed four, Evelyn Hendrycks chipped in three, and both Amelia Kliebenstein and Kenna Tappen had two apiece, showing the team’s depth in attack.

Rehman also led Westonka’s blocking effort with four blocks, while Kliebenstein and Budzius each recorded one. The front row battled against a sharp Jaguar offense but found success in disrupting key plays at the net.

In the back row, Cupp again proved essential, collecting six digs, while Lizzy Huls, Hannah Birkins, and Budzius each tallied five. The serve receive game was anchored by Budzius, who led with a 1.96 rating, followed by Huls (1.73) and Birkins (1.71).

Cupp also ran the offense with poise, delivering 15 assists, while Hayden Winther added 11, distributing the ball to a variety of hitters and keeping the Jaguar defense honest.

Despite the final scoreline, the White Hawks left the court with clear positives to build on — from sharp serving to balanced attacking and gritty defense. As the season continues, Westonka will look to tighten its execution and turn these competitive performances into wins.

The White Hawks return to action at home on Tuesday, September 23, and on the road in Hutchinson Thursday the 25th. Play will pick up at home September 30 and October 2.  The White Hawks' record is 11-5.
