Facing off against some of the top teams and individual players in Class AA, Luke Sunnarborg delivered a standout performance at the Wright County Conference Championship, held May 12 and 14 at Crow River Golf Club in Hutchinson. The Mound Westonka junior fired rounds of 78 and 75, earning All-Conference honors for his third year.

Sunnarborg was the only public school athlete to make the All-Conference team, competing against golfers from perennial state contenders like Holy Family (the No. 1-ranked AA team) and Southwest Christian, who claimed the team title.

The tournament, played in upper 80s temperatures and gusty winds, posed a challenge to all competitors. On Day 1, the White Hawks’ top four scores came from Sunnarborg (78), junior Wes Foley (81), freshman Erik Flom (90), and freshman Leif Kellner (91). On Day 2, the team’s lowest rounds were posted by Sunnarborg (75), junior Dillon Peterson (89), senior Maxx Pierre (89), and junior Logan Hill (91).

The White Hawks now shift their focus to next week, with the Burl Oaks Invitational on May 19 and the Pioneer Cup on May 21.
