White Hawks Track and Field Competes in True Team Sections

The Westonka track and field team competed at the Section 6AA True Team meet on May 7 at Orono High School.

“The teams had a great day at True Team," Coach Sara Schwartz shared. "We had several veteran athletes have season best performances, and many new-to-varsity athletes competed well at the high level for the first time.”  

Two White Hawks girls led the way for their team with first-place finishes. Sophomore Sami Christensen launched her way to two school records in both the long jump, with a distance of 17’ 7.5,” and the triple jump, with a distance of 35’ 10”. Senior Avery Olsen placed first in the 100m sprint with a season best time of 13.08 seconds.

The White Hawks girls earned top performances throughout the meet. Junior Morgan Johnson took second place in the 300m hurdles with a personal record (PR) of 47.39 seconds. Junior Delaney Parker took sixth place in the shot put with a throw of 29’ 4.5”. Ninth grader Grace Schrempp took fourth in the discuss with a throw of 97’0”. Junior Lexie Rehman took second place in the high jump with a jump of 5’0”. The 4x100m relay team of Sami Christensen, Avery Olsen, Eva Castellon Williams and Lexie Rehman took second place with a PR of 50.63 seconds. 

The White Hawks boys were led by two athletes garnering second-place finishes. Senior Brenden Sexton placed second in the 300m hurdles with a time of 42.06. Senior JT Kimbrough placed second in the long jump with a PR distance of 20’11”. 

The boys team had a strong showing of top finishers. Senior Brenden Sexton placed eighth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 16.59 seconds. Senior JT Kimbrough placed fifth in the 100m with a PR of 11.61 seconds and eighth in the 200m with a time of 24.05 seconds. Junior Gavin Thelen placed fifth in the 400m with a PR of 53.05 seconds.

The 4x200m relay team of Julian Herkelman, Jacob Orenge, Andy Hoisington and Max French placed fourth with a PR time of 1:36.91. The 4x100m relay team of JT Kimbrough, Gavin Thelen, Mason Merritt, and Julian Herkelman placed fourth with a PR of 46.80 seconds. The 4x400m relay team of Cooper Rowe, Max French, Gavin Thelen and JT Kimbrough placed fourth with a PR of 3:36.9. In the triple jump, sophomore Julian Herkelman placed fourth with a jump of 40’ 2.5”, and junior John Seckinger placed fifth with a jump of 40’1”. 

The White Hawks will compete next in the conference and section championship meets as they move towards the end of the 2025 season.
