The Westonka boys swim team made a splash this year with a record-breaking season, culminating in a celebratory banquet held April 13 at the Medina Entertainment Center. Coaches Ben Hanson and Isabelle Kalb praised the team’s hard work, dedication, and standout performances throughout the 2024–25 season.
“Every swimmer stepped up in a big way this year,” said Head Coach Hanson. “It’s been incredible to watch this team grow into true competitors.”

As the team sets its sights on the 2025–26 season, three veteran swimmers have been chosen to lead as captains: Eren Alemdar, Sean Dolder and Wyatt Helms. Coach Hanson called the trio “the dream team” and expressed high hopes for their leadership, citing a goal of reaching the state tournament.
In a historic development, Westonka Boys Swim will join the Wright County Conference next season. This shift marks a turning point for the team, which has previously competed only in JV or exhibition events due to Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) regulations at West Metro conference meets.
With full conference participation, Westonka swimmers will be eligible for All-Conference honors and regular competition against some of the top programs in the region.
“This opens the door to a new level of competition—and recognition—that these athletes have earned,” said Coach Kalb.
The team would like to express their deep gratitude to the many individuals and organizations that supported them this season:
As the team looks ahead to a new chapter, the Westonka boys swim team is diving into the future with energy, ambition, and a united team spirit.
