Junior Cooper Rowe stands at the top of the podium, earning his second straight state championship.

The Mound Westonka White Hawks wrestling team had four wrestlers compete at the 2025 Minnesota State High School League state championships on Feb. 28 and March 1 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, with junior Cooper Rowe repeating as state champion.  “Cooper wrestled an outstanding tournament and really dominated throughout,” said head coach Todd Munsterteiger.

Rowe cruised through the first three rounds with a 37-second fall, an 18-0 technical fall, and an 11-0 major decision. In the finals, Rowe grinded out an 8-2 decision for his second consecutive state title.

Sophomore Deacon Ramthun had a nice run in his first state tourney appearance, going 2-2 and just missing the podium. Ramthun won his first round match 8-6, then lost to the eventual state runner-up by a 9-4 decision. Ramthun bounced back in the wrestlebacks with a 37-second fall but lost in the blood round by a 6-3 decision. “Deacon had an amazing season and got some great experience down here, we are looking for even bigger things from him next season,” said assistant coach John Wardlow.

Junior Phillip Pisarchuk lost his first-round match by fall and was eliminated, but he also gained some valuable experience and will be hungry to get back next season. “Phillip had an amazing run at sections and knows what it takes to compete at the top level," said assistant coach Eric Hensel. "This should motivate him to get back and make some noise next year."

Senior Cole Munsterteiger suffered a heartbreaking 12-9 overtime loss in the opening round and did not get a chance at a wrestleback. Munsterteiger ended his career as a five-time state entrant, three-time section champion and two-time state placewinner. His 198 career victories puts him second all-time in Mound Westonka history. “Cole had an outstanding career and will go down as one of our top wrestlers and leaders in program history," said assistant coach Eric Rodelius. "I cannot express in words what he has meant to our program."

The White Hawks wrestling squad will celebrate an incredible season with their annual banquet on Tuesday, March 11, at the Mound American Legion.
