WMMW Gymnasts Shine in Victory Over Howard Lake

On Jan. 29, the Watertown-Mayver/Mound Westonka gymnastics team dominated Howard Lake with a decisive win.

On Jan. 29, the Watertown-Mayer/Mound Westonka gymnastics team dominated Howard Lake with a decisive win, finishing with a team score of 140.00 compared to Howard Lake's 115.15.

The meet saw strong individual performances across multiple events. In the varsity vault, Erica Johnson claimed first place, followed by Marley Hagen in second and Maddie Sanders in fifth. 

In the varsity bars competition, Sanders emerged victorious, with Johnson earning second and Norah Kelley placing third. The varsity beam saw strong competition with Sanders finishing in second, behind Norah Kelley, while Johnson secured fifth.

The varsity floor featured a fierce battle, with Johnson taking second and Sanders finishing fourth. The All-Around competition was a tight race, but Sanders edged out Johnson, winning with a score of 35.050 over Johnson's 34.700.

On the JV side, WMMW also dominated with a team score of 126.95, outpacing Howard Lake's 94.75. Lily Meisel led the JV vault with a fourth-place finish and earned third in the JV beam. Marley Hagen contributed with a strong second-place showing in JV beam and a third-place finish in the JV floor.

With impressive showings across the board, WMMW’s gymnasts continue to build momentum for the rest of the season.
