The Watertown-Mayer/Mound Westonka (WMMW) gymnastics team secured a strong victory in their home meet against New London-Spicer on Jan. 23, with the varsity squad scoring 142.1 to the Wildcats' 138.7.
The meet saw standout performances across multiple events. Senior Maddie Sanders claimed first place on the uneven bars and second place on the balance beam, while also finishing fifth on the floor exercise. Junior Erica Johnson was another key contributor for WMMW, finishing third in vault, third in floor, and second in the all-around competition. Junior Lily Meisel earned second place on bars, while junior Nora Kelley took fifth place on beam.
The JV team also dominated, securing a 132.64 to 121.05 win over New London-Spicer. In the JV events, Sanders and ninth grader Christine Arnold tied for second place in vault, while eighth grader Ava Lien took fifth on bars. Ninth grader Lauren Tschimperle finished fifth on beam, and Meisel also finished fifth on floor.
