Seven was the lucky number on Saturday, Nov. 30, as the Westonka varsity and JV boys hockey teams both scored seven goals in their wins against the St. Paul Academy and Summit School Spartans.
The JV team kicked things off with a 7-2 win. Sophomore David Kalis had a standout second period with two goals, one of them short-handed, and an assist. Juniors Luc Lemire and Colton Decker ended the game with a goal and an assist apiece. Also scoring were junior Noah Huesmann and sophomores Colin McMullen and Anders Melstad. Sophomore Brendan Rashleger had two assists, and junior Brady Musel had one.
The varsity squad followed up with a 7-4 win. Junior Collin Hagen led the team in scoring, with two goals and an assist. Senior Luke Poikonen, senior Reese Matheny, junior Logan Hill, junior Liam Grant and senior Will Salvati also scored. Poikonen, Grant, Hill, junior Gavin Lamey, senior Augie Novack, and junior Teddy Johnson had assists.
The White Hawks play again on Saturday, Dec. 7 vs. Morris.
