The White Hawks boys soccer team took to the field at 1 p.m. Sept. 28 in a match-up against the Tri-City Titans. The occasion was bittersweet, as the team honored its senior players — Tor Erdahl, Raul Jordan, Tanner Blume, Preston Adam, Will Salvati, Ted Owens and Kuba Hajdukiewicz. Along with their proud parents, the seniors shared their favorite moments as White Hawks soccer players, while receiving heartfelt messages from their parents during a halftime ceremony.

The celebration was bookended by two halves that tested the team’s mettle. From the opening whistle, Salvati held the line in the net, and the first half saw junior Gavin Kevitt scoring a goal for the White Hawks. But despite the spirited push from the team, the final whistle blew with the Titans emerging victorious, 2-1.

Just a few hours later, the White Hawks girls soccer team played a victorious game over the Tri-City Titans. Seniors Anri Akiyama, Shiann Covin, Emma Carlson, Lily Hughes, Rachel Jensen, Stella Miner, Ellie Putnam, Trysten Rogstad and Sara Sipprell were celebrated with a walk down memory lane during halftime. They shared memories of the past, well wishes for the underclassmen and heartfelt messages from their parents.

The senior celebration was not the only reason to cheer at the game; fans made noise in the stands goal after goal, including a goal from Jensen. Additional goals were scored by juniors Sydney Reier and Kayley Mullins. The Titans had two penalties called against them, each resulting in two mentally challenging PK showdowns between senior Lily Hughes and their goalkeeper. Both goals were beautiful shots, adding to the winning final score. In the end, the fans cheered for their victorious White Hawks in a big win of 6-2.
