Volleyball Continues Strong Start with 13-2 Record

White Hawks vs. Dassel-Cokato - Sept. 10

The White Hawks volleyball team opened the week with an away game at Dassel-Cokato, where they would win in straight sets. Junior Bridget Budzius would lead the team in aces with three, followed by fellow junior Ashtyn Cupp, who had one. The White Hawks were performing well from the serving line with four players serving at 100 percent: juniors Budzius, Cupp, Meaghan Kreiser and Avery Pearson.

Senior Mia Weaver was spectacular on the serve receive, achieving a 2.1 rating. Weaver also led the White Hawks at the net with 14 kills. Juniors Lexie Rehman and Maria Neumnann were also key players in the offense with nine and six kills, respectively.

The White Hawks would put up a strong defense at the net with 14 blocks. Weaver and Rehman would have four blocks each, followed by Neumann with three, and senior Taryn Peglow with two. Budzius and Meaghan Kreiser led the defense with 12 and five digs, respectively. Cupp and Pearson were setting the hitters up for success with a combined total of 33 assists. The White Hawks would win 25-16, 25-20, and 25-23.

White Hawks vs. Southwest Christian - Sept. 12

The White Hawks would continue their journey on the road by heading to Southwest Christian on Thursday night. The Hawks would have seven aces from the serving line, led by Kreiser with four, Weaver with two and Rehman and Budzius each with one. Four players would manage to serve at 90 percent or higher against the Stars. Weaver would lead with a 95.8 percent serve rating, followed by Kreiser (94.7%), Budzius (93.3%) and Cupp (90%). Weaver would have a strong performance on serve receive with a 2.0 rating. 

Up at the net, outside hitters Kreiser and Weaver were unstoppable, putting down 17 and 16 kills, respectively. Not wanting to be left out, Neumann would have three kills, followed by middle blockers Rehman and Peglow with two each.

Peglow would lead the team with six blocks. Pearson would handle out-of-system play well by putting up two blocks as a setter. Pearson and Cupp would have a combined total of 31 assists. Four players would have digs in the double digits to shut down the Stars offense: Weaver (14), Kreiser (11), Budzius (10) and Cupp (10). For the first time in program history, the White Hawks would beat Southwest Christian in four sets (25-12, 25-20, 18-25, 25-22).

Minnesota High School Showcase - Sept. 13-14

The weekend would not be one of rest! The White Hawks played in the Minnesota High School Showcase tournament on Friday and Saturday. This tournament brings together the top schools from around the state in each class. Although individual statistics were not available at the time of publishing, the White Hawks would go 3-2 and finish seventh out of the top 16 teams in the state.
