This year, the start of the boys high school lacrosse season is not just another event – it’s a testament to the growing passion for the sport among young athletes. With a record number of players joining the ranks, there’s an undeniable buzz of excitement in the air. The team Mound Westonka High School boys lacrosse team is 50 members strong this year. An amazing turnout of players excited to bring home a White Hawks win.
The squad is led by 15 seniors (pictured below), some of whom have been playing lacrosse together for 10 years. Coach Derek Michalski reflects this sentiment stating, “This will be a special season for our program, as we are led by such a large group of experienced seniors who love to compete, are awesome students and are terrific teammates." Captains include seniors Max Anderson, Isaac Paul, Matt Neumann and DJ Zattler.
The team kicks off the season with a quick succession of games against St. Cloud, Irondale, Delano and Buffalo. Senior Night will take place on Thursday, May 2 versus Delano High School. Youth Day is scheduled for Saturday, May 11 and will feature varsity and JV games against Orono High School.
