Uhas Earns Third at Burl Invitational

The Mound Westonka boys golf team enjoyed two meets close to home last week, playing at Burl Oaks and Timber Creek. Both days had perfect weather for golf with temperatures in the 60s and only a light breeze.

Senior Matthew Uhas continued his hot streak leading the team with scores in the 70s both days. His four birdies at the Burl Invitational on May 8 contributed to a score of 72, tying Uhas for third. The White Hawks finished in 7th place amongst the fourteen teams. Holy Family shot an amazing 289 – their top four golfers shooting a total of one over par.

In addition to the 72 by Uhas, Mound Westonka had four scores in the 80s at Burl. Senior Mac Harmer shot an 81, and freshman Luke Sunnarborg finished next with an 85. Senior Tyler Albert finished at 87, and freshman Dillon Peterson shot 89.

The White Hawks competed next on May 9 in a conference meet at Timber Creek. Uhas tied for 5th place, shooting a 76. Sunnarborg shot an 82, good for 15th in the conference.  Providing the final two scoring rounds were Albert at 83 and Harmer with an 85. The team finished the day in fifth, behind another win for Holy Family.

Mound Westonka has three days of golf next week with a conference meet at Pioneer Creek, and a two-day Invitational at Oakdale Golf Club in Buffalo Lake.
