Two-Time State Champion Wrestler Nelson Commits to U of M

Mound Westonka High School junior Jack Nelson has committed to wrestling for the University of Minnesota in 2024.

Mound Westonka High School junior Jack Nelson has committed to wrestling for the University of Minnesota in 2024.

"I am very excited to announce my commitment to further my academic and athletic career at the University of Minnesota," Nelson posted to Twitter Tuesday morning. "I would like to thank my parents, family, coaches, teammates, friends and supporters who helped me get to this point. I’m very excited for what the future holds!"

Nelson is a three-time state qualifier and a two-time state champion. He won the Class AA 120-pound title in 2022 as a sophomore and the 106-pound title in 2021 as a freshman. He was a state entrant at 106 pounds as an eighth-grader.

He is currently No. 2 on The Guillotine’s Pound-For-Pound Class of 2024 Rankings.

White Hawks head wrestling coach Todd Munsterteiger said, "What a great opportunity, excited to watch you wrestle for the maroon and gold!"
