It was a quiet week for the White Hawks as they traveled to Watertown-Mayer for a Wright County Conference match on September 22, with Mound Westonka positioned at the top of the conference standings and Watertown-Mayer hoping to make a move up.

The first half started with no real dominance from either team. The visitors had a good shot with five minutes left when senior Dylan Mather sent a long ball up to junior Brett Bartkowicz, but the shot sailed wide. With one minute left in the half, senior Daniel Kaczanowski sent a long ball up to junior Jack Moch, who passed to senior Payton Kasper, drilling it from about 6 yards out. Score 1-0 at the half.

The second half started strong. Kasper had a great shot saved by the home team goalie. Then at 57 minutes, an acrobatic shot by exchange student Francesco Pio Malamisura went straight at the goalie. With full team press, there were some outstanding plays by the visitors. Late in the game, junior Sam Holmberg sent a through ball into Malamisura, but the shot hit the post, only for Kasper to grab the rebound and cross it back to Malamisura, who headed it home. White Hawks goalie junior DJ Zattler held the shutout through full time. Final score 2-0.

Next up: Home vs. Holy Family on Tuesday, Sept. 27.
