In second season of competition, THE 2022 WHITE HAWKS BOYS LACROSSE TEAM continues to perform well on field and in the classroom

Led by seven senior student athletes, our varsity team managed to accomplish the following in 2022:

  • Second place finish in Wright County Conference
  • Demonstrate TEAM OFFENSE by having 6 players record 20+ points, including our first 50 point scorer in program history.
  • Demonstrate TEAM DEFENSE by keeping teams under 10 goals in 8 of our games
  • Demonstrate HEART AND HUSTLE by having seven players collecting more than 20 Ground Balls.
  • 12 players with cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, including FOUR named to ALL-STATE ACADEMIC TEAM
  • ***TEAM ACADEMIC ALL STATE SILVER AWARD (for team GPA over 3.5)

Coach Michalski’s note on the 2022 season:

Going into our second season of competition, we talked a lot about raising the bar.  I feel we did that in a number of ways.  Weight room participation was strong and programming from Coach Nauert really benefited our program...felt stronger and significantly less impacted by injury this year.   We showed a lot more competitiveness in practice this season, which pushed us to do our best each day. Everyone had a better feel for the schedule in year two and just how important it was to be present and not miss out on too much during our short season.   In terms of results, we did raise the bar on wins to 7.  I feel like the the biggest step forward for us this year was really on the offensive side of the ball--we put up a lot more goals and saw better scoring distribution with 6 players over 20 points. It is much harder to defend a team when so many players can put the ball in the back of the net!  We repped shooting EVERY DAY in practice, our guys put in time outside of practice, and I think our offensive coaches did a good job putting people in spots to be successful.  On defense, we gained a ton of valuable experience with our young group, and played tough in a number of close games against good teams. As students, we really performed well earning TEAM ACADEMIC ALL STATE recognition. I am super proud of the effort by our student athletes!

The future is bright for the White Hawks, as our JV was nearly undefeated (13-1) with the only loss coming to a combined V/JV Hutchinson team. The JV was a really fun group to watch, and we continue to see the benefits of our ONE PROGRAM format.

Simplified down, the 2022 program was successful because they showed an ENJOYMENT for the game, a competitive spirit in practice EVERY day throughout the season, and a very impressive ability to keep composed when battling back from a deficit. As a team we improved to 2nd in the conference standings, and really was just one overtime loss from being conference champions…the goal is now set for 2023!

Coach Michalski’s note on Seniors:

Our 2022 seniors did a fabulous job leading, competing, and not giving up.  They modeled how to carry one’s self on and off the field, how to be flexible, how to bounce back and get back to work after WINS and LOSSES,  and have helped lay the next row of our program’s foundation.  They should be very proud of their impact and direction set for our still very young program. We are really proud of all of them and are lucky that we had such good people and teammates in our program.  The sky is the limit for our graduates and we are really excited to see the success they have out in the real world with a MWHS diploma in hand!

We wish the very best of luck and success to our graduating seniors:

Kaegen Baglien, Ryan Van Offeren, Anthony Kulisek, Drew Hunter, Tristan Oates, Owen Paul, and Kellen Baklund
