On Friday night, February 18, the Watertown-Mayer/Mound Westonka gymnastics team won its second consecutive Class A state championship at Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul. The team narrowly defeated Mankato West 145.750 to 145.600.
One night later, Mound Westonka High School junior Reagan Kelley edged out her teammate, Watertown-Mayer senior Anna Mielke, by one-tenth of a point to claim the state all-around title. Kelley took first place on beam, second on bars, fourth on vault and sixth on floor on Saturday night for a total score of 38.475. Mielke finished second with a 38.375.
