Westonka Girls Lacrosse Hosts Senior Night

Mound Westonka girls lacrosse players, coaches and parents celebrated the seven seniors on the JV and varsity teams during the Holy Family match up on Thursday, May 6 at Haddorff Stadium.

The Mound Westonka High School girls lacrosse team celebrated its seven senior members May 6.

Mound Westonka girls lacrosse players, coaches and parents celebrated the seven seniors on the JV and varsity teams during the Holy Family match up on Thursday, May 6 at Haddorff Stadium. The senior girls include: Grace Carlson, Grace Peterson, Mandy Peterson, Avery Robbins, Lily Sipprell, Frankie Walker and Rose Wolf.

Each senior was presented by an underclassmen and escorted by their parents at halftime. A special lacrosse memory was shared by the seniors, as well as their plans upon graduation. After the game, the girls celebrated as a team with dessert and refreshments.

The senior White Hawks and the rest of the team put out the Fire with a 16-10 win. Senior captain Grace Peterson scored 10 goals and had one assist, and sophomore Nora Sipprell scored three goals and had one assist. Junior captain Lauren Hildahl, junior Eleanor Young and sophomore Alicia Hatlestad each scored one goal. Young had two assists with sophomore Jordyn LaRue adding one. Sophomore goalie Kate Velander saved 14 shots on goal. The JV team lost their game 5-8.

On Monday, May 10, the White Hawks traveled to Hutchinson and had a difficult time chasing the Tigers with a 5-23 loss. Leading the score tally for the game included Sipprell with three goals and Peterson with two goals and one assist. Velander saved 10 shots on goal. The JV team also lost their game.

The next home game at Haddorff Stadium is Thursday, May 13 at 5 p.m. for JV and 6:30 p.m. for varsity against Orono. Admission to the games is free, so come and cheer on our White Hawks!
